good bloody marys

double crown on bowery has one of the two best bloody marys i've had in new york. and, if you like, you can make your own during the weekend brunch! they provide a glass with a generous shot of vodka and you put what you like in it. there are more than 30 options laid out, which range from sea salts and ground peppers to chutneys with mysterious ingredients, hot sauces, lemon, lime and tomato juice, cilantro, peppers, onions, capers, ginger, pickles, olives and a panoply of spices.

there are two prix fixe options for brunch. $20. for an entree, coffee and a bloody, or $35. for the same with unlimited bloodies!

the food is great but i wish they'd bring back the bangers and mash- wild boar sausage with mashed potatoes, minced beets and pungent "wawa" sauce.

madam geneva is the attached bar. small dark cozy. ornate velvet sofas. aging opulence, collapsing british colonial style.
